These are the “Core Values”
that lie at the heart of Lane Avenue.

We Care About You

Relationships are vitally important to us at Lane Avenue.  We want to be connected to each other.  This is why we emphasize involvement in "small groups," where strangers become friends and friends become family.  Social events that revolve around fun, food and friendship create opportunities for us to know and enjoy each other.

We Care About Your Life

We know that life is never hypothetical...it is always practical.  We will focus our ministry on the issues that you face every day.  We promise to listen to your life and provide ministries and programs that help you meet the challenges of life in the new millennium.

We Care About Kids

Jesus had a special place in His heart for children.  We intend to cherish the children of this community just as Jesus does.  Children's and Youth programs are a priority at Lane Avenue - the very first areas that we staffed and developed.

We Care About the Bible

We want to work at living a life that is based on belief rather than opinion.  We seek to integrate our faith with every aspect of our daily lives.  All of our messages will be Biblically based with a life-application emphasis.

Who We Are

Each of us is on a journey.  If you are longing to begin the journey of faith, Lane Avenue is a place where you will find others just like you.  At Lane Avenue it is safe to ask some hard questions.  Lane Avenue is a place for you to find and know God. We want to be a place where people of all ages are…

• Welcome and safe, finding friendship and encouragement.

• Astonished at the wonder of God’s deep love for them.

• Invited into a life-changing relationship with Jesus.

• Not spectators.  They are using their time, talent and resources to serve God and others.

• Becoming increasingly effective representatives of Jesus Christ in their homes, workplaces and neighborhoods.

• Looking for ways to serve God in our local community and around the world.

What We Believe

• We believe in the necessity of a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ.  This comes to us through the  experience of conversion.

• We believe that the Bible is God’s message to all people and the only perfect authority for faith, doctrine and conduct.  We also believe that the Word of God is “spirit and life” and requires of us a spiritual and living response.

• We believe in a conscious dependence on the Holy Spirit, who, with the Father and Son, calls the church into being, empowers its ministry, guides its mission, and supplies the resources needed by the Church community to follow Jesus.

• We believe in the Church as the community of believers, characterized by mutual participation in and sharing new life in Christ.  Membership in the Lane Avenue family is by confession of faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.  It is open to all who believe.  Uniformity in theological/creedal details is not expected.  What is required is that one be “born anew to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.” (1 Peter 1:3)

• We believe in the reality of freedom in Christ.  We recognize that differences of opinion exist concerning theological issues, worship styles and sacramental practices.   But we believe that these differences are overcome through sharing a common life in Jesus.  We believe that each person is unique and so is their experience in Christ.  In Jesus Christ we have freedom, constrained by His Lordship and His Holy Word.

In essentials – agreement
In the non-essentials – freedom
And in all - love.
